He made his debut film appearance when he was 18 months old, and ever since then, he has never failed to astound his audience. He didn’t need much instruction because he came from a theatrical household, and both of his parents were actors.

He appeared in well-known films, including The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, American Graffiti, and The ShootistRon Howard decided to play a significant part behind the camera as a director and producer, following in his father’s footsteps. 

Hollywood productions like Apollo 13, Cocoon, A Beautiful Mind, and the contentious movie The Da Vinci Code showcased some of his sharpest directing abilities. Ron Howard was admitted into the esteemed Television Hall of Fame in 2013. Early Life & Education

Ronald William Howard was born on March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma, United States. His father, Rance Howard, was a writer, actor, and director; his mother, Jean Speegle Howard, was an actress. 

He relocated to Hollywood with his parents in 1958, and his younger brother Clint Howard was born the following year. The Howards eventually settled in Burbank after three years.

He went to John Burroughs High School and received coaching at Desilu Studios, which is now called The Culver Studios.

After high school, Ron Howard enrolled in the University of Southern California‘s School of Cinematic Arts but could not finish because of a successful acting career.

Career

In the 1956 film Frontier Woman, Ron Howard made his debut when he was just 18 months old. He had his first theater role in The Seven Year Itch by the time he was two. His role as Billy Rhinelander in the 1959 movie The Journey was cast. Thanks to his sincere performance, he secured the part of Stewart in the first season of the sitcom Dennis the Menace. Additionally, he was cast in the series The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

At about the same time, he received a role in Playhouse 90. The producer of The Andy Griffith Show, Sheldon Leonard, was impressed by his performance. Ron Howard was hired for the part of Ronny Griffith, the major character’s son. In 1962, he appeared in The Music Man, and The Courtship of Eddie’s Father movies, the following year. He played many guest parts in films like I Spy and Daniel Boone between 1965 and 1969. 

In his teen years, Ron Howard collaborated closely with Disney. He was hired for the title part of Mike in the Thurl Ravenscroft-narrated Disneyland record album The Story and Song from the Haunted Mansion. He received a role in George Luca‘s 1973 movie American Graffiti. Together with Richard Dreyfuss and other performers, he played the title character, Steve Bolander, in the film.

Ron Howard was cast in the ABC comedy Happy Days the following year, playing the title character Richie Cunningham from the first to the seventh season. He co-starred with John Wayne in the film The Shootist. He made an appearance in the television film Return to Mayberry in 1986. Even the reunions of The Andy Griffith Show and The Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion were attended by him.

For his film A Beautiful Mind, Ron Howard received the prestigious Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director in 2001. He also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture the same year.

Personal Life

Ron Howard wed Cheryl Howard, a writer, on June 7th, 1975. Currently, they are residents of Beverly Hills, California. The couple’s four children were each given the name of the location where they were born. 

He gave the name Bryce Dallas Howard to his firstborn daughter because she was born in Dallas. Given that they were born at the Hotel Carlyle, he called his twin daughters Jocelyn Howard and Paige Howard. He gave the name Reed Howard to his fourth child in honor of a certain road.

His grandchildren are Theodore Norman Howard-Gabel and Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel.
