Kim Kardashian is showing off the results of her disciplined diet and workout routine with new swimsuit snaps. Kardashian, 42, shared pictures of herself wearing a black and white bikini, lounging on a seat next to a luxurious swimming pool against a background of twilight skies, ocean, and palm trees. "Risk and you shall receive," she captioned the post. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Kardashian stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Kardashian focuses on weight training to maintain her curvy yet strong physique. "I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights," she says. "I don't do a lot of cardio. But honestly, like even my mom pulled me aside maybe a week ago and pulls me in a closet and is like, 'What are you doing?' She says, 'I don't care what, I just need to know.' I've been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder."
Kardashian works out with personal trainer Melissa Alcantara, who puts the reality star through her paces. "Her schedule is crazy, and mine is also crazy, so we work out really early in the morning at 6am," Alcantara says. "85 percent of our training is weight training, and the other 15 is made up of cardio… Kim loves to work the back of her legs — the hamstrings and the booty! We'll have one day entirely dedicated to abs."
Kardashian refuels after her workouts with healthy carbohydrates. "My trainer Mel always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken," she says. "You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat, and carbs. There's a myth that eating carbs is bad, but this isn't true!"
Kardashian says she went super low-carb after welcoming son Saint in 2015. "I did a strict Atkins diet. Strict, strict, strict," she says. "It was really hard for me to diet [with the] first baby. This time was so much easier and I realized [it comes down to] the food. I mean, I love to work out and you definitely have to work out to tone up, but so much of it is how you eat. I had to really stay focused. I had to cut out all the sweets and I had such a sweet tooth."
Kardashian has a notorious sweet tooth, and is careful about her sugar intake. "I don't really eat sugar the way that I used to," she says. "It doesn't really do it for me. I've kind of been trained to just eat a lot healthier than I used to. I used to just eat anything and everything and I loved it. And so I really do control that now. I don't want to ruin it by just stuffing my face… I love Häagen-Dazs ice cream. That's like my one go-to."
