2015 has been one of the best years for artists and music – and Pentatonix has definitely had an amazing year. Scott, Mitch, Kristin, Avi, and Kevin have jumped to a higher platform over the past few months; with a brand new album, tour dates, and another Grammy nomination, this Acapella group has a lot to look back on in 2015 and more to look forward to in the new year.

These five Acapella artists have soared over the past year with the release of their newest album Pentatonix , which is their first “homemade” album. The band has released three EP’s since they won The Sing-Off in 2011. During release week the album hit #1 on ITunes and is currently #15 on the Billboard 200. Their newest single “Can’t Sleep Love” has had over 11 million views on YouTube since its release in early October.

Pentatonix’ Christmas album That’s Christmas To Me debuted in 2014  and has grown immensely popular since then around the holiday season. It features the song “Mary, Did You Know” which went viral and has over 53 million views on YouTube. This year it’s climbed to #2 on ITunes and is currently at #4 on the Billboard 200. The band added five new songs to the deluxe edition this year and released a music video for “The First Noel” this past week.

Earlier this year Pentatonix toured North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia during their On My Way Home tour. They hit several countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy, UK, Japan, and Indonesia. Pentatonix was the opening act for Kelly Clarkson’s North American tour over this past summer. The group finished with their last live performance of 2015 at Mix 99.3’s Jingle Jam in Missouri.

The American Music Awards invited Pentatonix to sing during the show on November 23. The group performed a tribute to Star Wars alongside a live orchestra- Harrison Ford even introduced the act himself. Set with wardrobe that could fit the film; Pentatonix carried the beginning of the Star Wars score which soared into a full-on musical performance. They even got their own hashtag #PTXonAMAs alongside the Star Wars hashtag #StarWarsAMAs that trended that night.

To top off the year Pentatonix has been nominated for another Grammy! The song “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” off their album That’s Christmas To Me is up for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella. Pentatonix has already won the Grammy for this category last year for their arrangement “Daft Punk” medley.

To say the least, Pentatonix has had an AMAZING year! We cannot wait to see what Pentatonix will accomplish in the near future!
